The Rotary Club of Glasgow sponsored Hutchesons’ Grammar School who reached the Youth Speaks Senior National Final.
The talented speakers travelled to Nottingham for the Rotary in Great Britain & Ireland Conference and Showcase on Sunday 12 May where the final was being held.
The skilled students came a commendable 2nd place with team player Aubrey McCance claiming the ‘Best Speaker’ award.
Contestants delve deep into research and formulate their own ideas for the choice of topic. The trio from Scotland’s theme was “Weed or Wild Flowers”
We congratulate Owen Gould, Sara Ahmed and Aubrey McCance on reaching the final, and coming second. – what a remarkable achievement for a young team.
This competition opens up an opportunity to enhance public speaking abilities by performing, persuading and entertaining the audience.
In teams of three, participants present arguments and points of discussion, before taking questions from the judging panel who are, themselves, skilled orators.
This competition is split into two age categories; Intermediate, for those aged 11 to 13 and Senior for those aged 14 to 17.
