The Club's AGM and Business meeting followed by Les Kellen talking from France on the wines of Bordeaux.


Leslie Phillip Kellen was born in Pretoria, South Africa on the 15th of December 1951.

He graduated with a degree in economics from the university of Pretoria and then with a degree in law from the university of Cape Town.

He then founded the Boston Education Group, which ultimately consisted of 17 private colleges and universities. He was a pioneer in education for the advertising industry in South Africa the 1980ies. Other colleges included schools for design, law, economics and computer studies.

The company was floated on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange when Leslie was 38 years old! During his time in South Africa Leslie played professional soccer, sang in the State Opera Company, and shared a couple of aircraft with two friends as a hobby.

Leslie has been passionate about wine for more than 45 years and continued with this passion when he lived in London/UK, Spain and Portugal.

He also continued consulting in the business and law arena and wrote the draft Gaming Legislation for Lithuania.

Leslie is now immersed in passing on his passion for wine to others, teaching tasting techniques, judging wine for medals in Bordeaux, and conducting tastings and wine education workshops for the last 30 years.
