He recognized the need to feed the hungry and to encourage children to attend school to gain an education to help them get out of the poverty cycle they were in by providing meals at school. A ROTARY OBJECTIVE.
Eric and Irene Russell from our neighboring club in Warrington whilst attending a Rotary Convention around 4 years ago witnessed a meal pack and brought the idea back to the U.K and have since become Ambassadors for the Raise Against Hunger organisation.
They did the first U.K. bag pack in Warrington and our club sent volunteers at a cost of £50 per head to this event. The feedback from attendees was that it was a rewarding fun experience.
Since then a number of successful meal packs have been completed around our district and throughout the U.K.
