Rotary Bowls Challenge with Widnes 31st July 2023

Match with Widnes

Last night our annual bowling match between St Helens Rotary and Widnes Rotary took place at Windle Bowling Club in St Helens. Despite facing adverse weather conditions with torrential rain, both Rotary teams managed to field a full complement of players for the match. The event showcased not only a competitive spirit but also provided an opportunity for members to strengthen existing friendships and foster new ones.

The challenging weather did not deter the determined members of both Rotary teams. They braved the rain and proceeded with the match, exhibiting a commendable commitment to the annual tradition. Even though the rain persisted throughout the event, the enthusiasm of the participants remained unwavering.
As the bowling match was underway, members who were not comfortable playing in the rain utilised the opportunity to engage in camaraderie. They mingled with one another, renewing old bonds, and forming new connections. This atmosphere of fellowship and friendship added to the enjoyment of the evening.

Despite being a competitive event, the atmosphere during the match remained friendly and congenial. Both teams displayed good sportsmanship, fostering a positive environment for everyone involved. The balance of competition and camaraderie made the evening a memorable and enjoyable experience for all.
In a turn of events, St Helens Rotary emerged as the winners of the evening. Despite the odds stacked against them due to the inclement weather, the team showcased their resilience and bowling prowess, leading them to victory.
After the match, Presidents Linda and Simon extended their gratitude to each other's teams for participating in the event and contributing to the spirit of fellowship. The occasion allowed members to come together in a meaningful way, strengthening the bond between the two Rotary clubs.
Following St Helens Rotary's victory, President Simon took the opportunity to deliver a victory speech. He expressed his appreciation to his team for their dedication and effort in securing the win. He also acknowledged the sportsmanship displayed by both teams and emphasised the importance of such events in promoting unity within the Rotary community.
