Our Guest speaker was Dr Simon Pickering who is the officer for the environment for Stroud district Council , as well as holding numerous other related positions within other organisations.
Simon provided a very informative presentation including many facts and figures supporting the view that climate change is real, and indicating how these can potentially be offset by actions taken now, to prevent further damage effecting climate change.
Such measures are actively being pursued by the Council ranging from home improvements in the form of improved insulation etc, to the employment of electric vehicles. The majority of households can also make a considerable contribution by reviewing their home insulation,, and energy usage.
We are likely to see many changes in the coming years, particularly with smart energy usage in our homes, and changes to our transport systems.
A very interesting evening with many questions to follow, demonstrating the considerable interest on this subject.
