Council at 5.45, then Round Two of the District 1020 Quiz

A team from Eyemouth Rotary Club visit to compete in the District Quiz

At last week's meeting of Hawick's Rotarians, President Linden Warburton welcomed members of Eyemouth Rotary Club who had come across to contest Round Two of the annual Rotary District 1020 (south eastern Scotland) Quiz. Guest question master Allan McCredie presided over a keen competition which saw the Hawick four of Angus Neilson, Ron Smith, Ron Sutherland and Jim Walker defeat the visitors 29 – 21.

Eyemouth's team consisted of Mick Pawley, Bob Wortley, Norman Whyte and Jo Pawley, with scorer Mike Jopling and supporter Jim Hettrick.

The Club has also welcomed George Hogg as an associate member. This allows anyone to find out more about the activities of the Club without feeling committed to regular attendance or to paying subscriptions. Anyone interested in joining us as an associate should contact the Club secretary at 07774 113066.

Next week (Friday 14th) sees the Club's own Annual Charity Quiz take place at The Bridge Function Rooms at 7.30. Questions have been set by questionmasters Rons Smith and Sutherland and with a licensed bar and with eats at the interval this should be a great evening. Entry is £12 for a team of four who can simply turn up and take part. Proceeds will support Hawick Rotary's nominated charities for the year, specifically the Cycling Without Age Trishaws 'Bette' and 'Bill'.
