Youth Competition


Helen wins Young Chef Regional Final             

On Saturday 7th March, competitors representing schools throughout Scotland took part in the Regional Final of the RIBI Young Chef competition.  This year's competition was held at Wallace High School, Stirling and in an enthralling contest Helen Jones, aged twelve, from Ardnamurchan High School sponsored by Lochaber Rotary emerged in first place.  

Helen’s winning menu was :-

Starter  -  Smoked Mackerel Cannelloni
Main     -  Pan Seared Venison with Haggis, Neeps and Tatties,
                Savoy Cabbage and Bacon with Roast Baby Onion Jus
Dessert -  Pear Tarte Tatin with Vanilla Ice Cream
 
Helen will now go forward to face other top young chefs from across the country in the National Final on 2nd May.

RIBI Young Chef Competition aims to encourage young people to develop cookery skills, develop food presentation skills, consider healthy eating options, prove their organisational and planning skills and prove their ability to cope in a demanding situation

Charlie Boax, who attends Grange Academy, was the winner of our local Rotary Young Musician competition. On Sunday, 23 April 2023, Charlie competed in the RIGBI Young Musician Final in Manchester and was again successful.
