Club hands cash donation to city foodbank

City of Hereford Rotary Club has been delighted to donate £500 to Hereford Foodbank

CITY of is determined to retain its place at the heart of the local community despite the restrictions in place on everyone.

“One of the activities that we had planned for this year was to do a food collection at one of the city supermarkets,” said club president Katie Farmer.

“We have done this very successfully in the past. People have always been remarkably generous and all of the food collected has then been donated to the city’s foodbank.

“Clearly, during the pandemic, a collection is not going to be possible in the immediate future but we are well aware that the food bank is more in need of donations then ever before.

“For this reason, we have handed over £500 to Hereford Food Bank from our members’ donations and hope that, in the short term, this will be of assistance to them and their hard-pressed community.”

Rotary’s motto is ‘Service before Self’ and the club is doing all that it can during the crisis to support the community.

The club’s fund, which was launched last week to help charities and community groups who are helping vulnerable people during the Covid-19 pandemic is already being very well supported.
