Club looking to start donations from Covid-19 fund
The City of Hereford Rotary Club is looking to start making donations from its fund to help community groups and charities
The City of is looking to start making donations from its fund to help community groups and charities who are doing amazing work during the pandemic.
“We had to postpone our annual duck race and golf day, two of our major fundraising events,” said club president Katie Farmer.
“So we recognise that other charities are going to be in the same position as our club – fundraising has stopped when the need for services and support in our communities is increased.
“Our appeal on PayPal was launched to provide support to local charities and community groups.”
The club is working with Herefordshire Voluntary Organisations Support Service (hvoss) to ensure the best outcomes from the donations for local people.
“All the funding is being spent locally and there are no administrative costs so that every pound donated is going to support people in need,” added Katie Farmer.
“We are now in a position to ask for applications for funding.
“To maximise the funds we have, we are looking at donations up to £250.
“We welcome applications from registered and non registered charities, community interest companies, community groups providing services for specific groups of people or in specific areas.”
Will Lindesay, the chief executive of hvoss, said: "We are very grateful to City of for setting up the fund.
“It will enable local community organisations to provide immediate response and relief to vulnerable people in the community."
