Rotary Club of Guernsey Supports the 'Social Investment Fund' with a £10,000 Donation (23 April 2020)

The Rotary Club of Guernsey recently received a generous donation from the John Ramplin Trust to support the Club’s local efforts to help the community. This has enabled the Club to donate today £10,000 to Guernsey’s COVID-19 Community Charity Appeal as an endorsement of the important role that initiative will play in supporting Guernsey’s charity sector in this time of unprecedented need.

As the Bailiwick deals with the extraordinary circumstances and the many challenges the virus presents, the Rotary Club of Guernsey is making the support of other charities its first priority. By donating to the appeal, the funds will quickly be dispersed to many hard pressed local charities in urgent need of support.

Club President, Nathan Silk said: “The Rotary Club of Guernsey supports local charities that play a vital role in supporting our community. In the present crisis the need for their services is even greater and this is why we have chosen to initially support those who support others. Guernsey has always given generously, and I am sure the appeal will be well supported in the spirit of #GuernseyTogether.”

“Like many other local charities, Rotary has had to cancel fund raising events that support its ability to provide funds to local good causes. Rotary International has made grant funding available globally to all clubs in the response to Covid-19. Locally we are assessing where we can assist in the recovery phase and if we can access this global fund.”

“The Rotary Club like many others has moved to virtual meetings of the members. Whilst there were a few teething issues initially, it has proved successful and we have even had a guest join a meeting from New Zealand. Virtual meetings have allowed us to ensure members are safe and well but, most importantly, our charity work supporting the Bailiwick can continue during these difficult times.”
