Club meeting - 'Zoom' Speaker Yorkshire Air Ambulance

Thu, Oct 1st 2020 at 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Charlie Reeder is the South Yorkshire Regional Fundraiser. Her role involves attending events, giving talks about the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and overseeing fundraising activity across the South Yorkshire region, as well as mentoring a team of volunteers

“No two days are ever the same. Once day we could be with corporate donors at a black tie event and the next we could be out at a gala in the heart of the community”, said Charlie.

In her spare time, Charlie loves to read and takes her kindle everywhere with her. She also has an art and design degree and likes to be artistic and crafty when she gets the chance.

Interesting fact:
Charlie can sleep anywhere. She has been known to fall asleep standing up and even when having a tattoo done!
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent charity providing a lifesaving rapid response emergency service to 5 million people across the whole of Yorkshire.

To keep both of our Air Ambulances maintained and in the air, we need to raise £12,000 every single day, which is the equivalent of £4.4m a year. The generosity that we receive really is the life blood of our Charity.

A service that provides State-of-the-art Emergency Care:

The charity was set up in 2000 and with the addition of the second air ambulance in October 2007, the YAA now operate our own Dedicated Air Desk for rapid dispatch of their helicopters to an incident.

The swift medical interventions provided by the air ambulance crews have a major impact on a patient’s chance of survival and subsequent quality of life.

Fast Medical Response:

Yorkshire has a vast topography that not only includes remote, rural and densely populated areas but also includes major motorways and road networks such as the M62, M1, A1 and M18.

On average, dispatch time is around 2 to 3 minutes and patients are transferred to the nearest major trauma centre, flying at speeds of up to 160 mph.
