First Female President

Like all Rotary clubs across the world Covid is forcing everyone to consider what our new normal might look like. Meeting weekly via zoom is the current norm and this will be critical in moving forward. It provides members with flexibility and it doesn't cost them anything.  However, moving Rotary online doesn’t suit everyone, and we need to accommodate all our members.  So, in the future it is likely that the way we meet will change, it will not be the same every week and different ways of getting together will suit different people.  

The hope is that we can get more involvement with local organisations and invite representatives from different groups to join us to talk about the opportunities and challenges facing their organisations, share ours, and consider how we might mutually benefit each other.  

Building our social media presence and relationship with local press will be part of building knowledge of what we do.

Fundraising will bring all kinds of different challenges this year and online will be a crucial part of this.

As Allander’s first female president, backed by the members, Lynne is keen that Allander should have a positive impact on women.  This will not just be fund raising but also in raising awareness and doing whatever we can to support their work, particularly locally.  Two causes will be at the front of fore of this:-  East Dunbartonshire Womens Aid and Dress for Success.  Both organisations support vulnerable women and aim to help them change their circumstances.

In place of the full chain of office a Presidential Quaich has been introduced that will pass each year to the new President with their name and year in office recorded on the plinth.
