Environmental Issues

and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals


In 2020, the Rotary Foundation added Environment to its Areas of Focus.

Our Club President for 2020-2021 had chosen the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as the theme for her year. These SDGs align with Rotary’s goals. 

From the 17 SDGs, she chose to concentrate on the following four:




A range of speakers had been organised for some of our meetings but COVID-19 meant the postponement of some.

However, at our first Club Zoom meeting of the new year, held on 14 July 2020, we were delighted to welcome Grace Onions, a campaigner against the use of plastic. (See separate report.)
