Joan's 480 mile walk for Haslemere Food Bank and Haslemere Stroke Club
Local walker Joan Mills who has committed to walk 480 miles which is the distance that is travelled when people walk the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage from the French borders across Northern Spain to Santiago to Compostela. Joan is a committed Christian and has embraced the walk as her pilgrimage. With her daily journal and maps to guide her she has selected numerous routes within a 15-mile radius to take in as many churches and holy sites as possible. Her daily 12-mile walks are recorded on a Conqueror App via her smart watch. Joan grew up between Plaistow and Dunsfold and can recall even in her earliest years, walking to Chiddingfold with her Mother to pick up the shopping. 60 years later, over the next two months, she plans to find those old trails again and help with the Rotary Clubs fundraising efforts. To fund raise or follow the ups and downs of her adventures in the local area and her virtual route across Spain, please follow her on Haslemere website - www.haslemererotary.org or Facebook pages.
