This annual festival usually involves a display of 80 trees provided and decorated by local charities and businesses. Visitors are invited to make donations in support of the Lindsey Lodge Hospice and the event has helped raised over £60,000 for the Hospice since it started over 15 years ago.
This year we ran a Virtul event with a dedicated web site: https://scunthorpetreefest.uk/ and collected donations for Lindsey Lodge via a Just Giving page.
The "event" included images and vidoeo of over 60 Trees, a Virtual Choir recording of the Lincolnshire Community Carol by Ian McMillan and Luke Carver-Goss, and a selectin of poetry by local children read by Rotarians and Celebreties. Readers included Ian McMillan, Peter Levy, Kofi Smiles and Amanda White from the BBC in East Yorks and Linconshire, Past and current MPs Nic Dakin and Holly Mumby Croft, the Mayor of North Lincs. Weatherman and ex Scunthorpe lad Darren Betts also read, as did author and illustrator Nick Sharratt.We raised over £4000 including Gift Aid!!
