Litter Picking in two teams between Westgate and Westbrook
Today is the 22nd September 2020. This week is Keep Britain Tidy Week and in keeping with other voluntary organisations, the Rotary Club of the Isle of Thanet Sunrise rose to the occasion and sent out two teams to do their bit and scour the promenades and grassy areas between Westgate Bay and the Sunken Gardens at Westbrook for litter. It was hard but rewarding work but the weather was excellent.
Members chatted to passers by who were pleased with their efforts. They even had the offer of coffee at the Westgate Bay cafe. Both teams observed social distancing rules throughout.
Thankfully the Sunken Gardens were relatively free of litter but the car park near there was a different story and had the two teams been together they probably could not have cleared it all. Kevin's team made a valiant effort however. Caroline and her team also had a successful morning.
All together 8-9 filled bags were left at the St Mildred's Bay car park with many more bags emptied into litter bins along the routes taken.
