Beirut Explosion Response

Support for Aid Organisations

Following the devastating explosion in the Port of Beirut that killed over 200 people, injured 6500 and left 300,000 people homeless, the Rotary Club of Bradford on Avon has made donations to two support groups directly involved in the recovery work

Beirut Rotary District 2452, our fellow Rotarians that live in the area are providing: Food, Clothing and Medical Supplies to their local community as well as helping with the long term impact on education. For more information and to donate directly to District 2452 go to: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/rotaryclubbeirutcedars

The second organisation we are supporting is SARAID. SARAID is a British volunteer-based charity dedicate to saving lives of innocent victims of disaster and reliving human suffering around the world. SARAID deployed two teams to Beirut and are looking for support to fund those teams and the follow up work planned in the region in the next month or so, for the second part of their response.  As well Search and Rescue SARAID also train local people to help with the longer-term management of the situation.  SARAID also work with UK communities supporting Emergency and Local Authority responders including the Avon Community Resilience Team. Rotary Club of Bradford on Avon has also secured a grant from Rotary District 1200 to enhance our donation to SARAID.
