Helping Care Home Residents Meet Family and Friends
With the gradual easing of Covid-19 restrictions in June and July, care home residents were able to meet with visitors in the gardens. Fine on a good day the changeable weather, some shelter is needed.
In early July, Rotary stepped in to help Bennachie View Care Home by donating two unused gazebos which were set up in the gardens and securely tied down. Staff maintain a visitor booking system and residents could start to meet friends and relatives outside for the first time in months.
At the end of July, we were able to arrange for and set up two of Aberdeenshire Council’s Leisurelend gazebos at Pleyfauld House in Inverurie. Once again this meant that, after many months of isolation, residents could meet visitors in their gardens no matter the weather.
As we move into winter, the gazebos are still in use because, while the restrictions have changed a bit, there is still a need for outdoor visit facilities. We can only hope that the pandemic control systems are effective enough to make the gazebos redundant!
