ROTARY KidsOut DAY
The Rotary KidsOut Day provides an experience to children which, through mental and/or physical disability would not normally be able to enjoy and that most of us take for granted. In Aberdeen City and Shire local Rotary Clubs take an empty field and in less than 24 hours turn it into a fun park especially aimed at children with additional support need and afterwards return it to greenspace until the next year.

After a break of 2 years because of the Pandemic, KidsOut returned in June 2022. This time held at the Gordon Barracks in Bridge of Don the event will involve almost 400 children with support needs, 240 school staff and over 200 Rotary and other volunteers.
Rotary Club of Inverurie provided volunteer support to almost 120 children from St Andrew’s School, Strathburn Primary and Kellands Primary Schools.
The children and helpers had a fantastic day with bouncy slides and castles, magician entertainment, football, pony grooming, pony and trap riding and many other activities. The afternoon ended with a traditional open-air disco!
KidsOut, Craibstone, 5th June 2019
586 children with additional support needs from 35 Primary Schools located in Aberdeen and the local area enjoyed a great day out of school when they attended the Rotary KidsOut Event at Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) Craibstone.
Seventeen Rotary Clubs across City and Shire organised a range of activities to entertain the children and to put happy smiles on their faces. The event gave the children the opportunity to ride on a horse (with appropriate support), walk on a rope bridge and jump on bouncy castles as well as get their faces painted and enjoy a pony-and-trap ride or train ride around a small circuit. They also enjoyed climbing inside the cabin of a fire engine, police car and van. The boys and girls watched a display of magic and a puppet show and were excited by the interactive activities devised by Satrosphere Science Centre. There was also an opportunity to stroke small animals and speak to owls.
After a sandwich lunch, followed by an ice cream, in the campus dining hall they were able to burn off more energy by dancing to disco music before boarding their buses and taxis for their trip back to school.

This year Rotary's theme is "Serve to Change Lives". One of the many ways we do this is by volunteering our services to community groups, for fundraising activities and for general support where our community needs us.
