Young Writer Competition 2020-2021

This year's theme was My Happiest Day and we had entries from 6 schools across the Melton area and one from the USA! . Read all the entries and discover the winners!

Young writers from the Melton Borough were invited to put pen to paper and enter this year's Rotary Young Writer Competition with the theme of My Happiest Day.  

We can now announce the winners in the categories are:

Junior Poetry Winner - Katie Scoble, Brownlow Primary School

Junior Prose Winner - Sam Beadle, Brownlow Primary School

Intermediate Prose Winner - Ellie Yates, Long Fields Academy

All entrants received a certificate and each winner received a medal with the winning school receiving a trophy.



DISTRICT 1070 Results!

All of our local winners were automatically entered into the District 1070 judging.  We were thrilled to hear that  our intermediate category winner Ellie Yates also won the District Level.  She has won a £25 gift certificate and has moved into the regional heats.  In the junior category, Sam Beadle's entry received a Highly Commended award at the District Level.

The schools of the winners also received prizes donated by FableVision Learning.  The schools will receive a classroom license for a year for the Peter H Reynolds Young Writers Academy, hosted by NY Times bestselling author/illustrator Peter H Reynolds.

Young Writers is sponsored by all of the Rotary Clubs in Melton Mowbray.
