Taking Football to Binga, Zimbabwe

Binga is one of the most deprived areas in Zimbabwe and we are aiming to supply football equipment to assist the youth of the area

Binga Youth Football Club

In November 2019 our member Emily Madamombe who is also the Founder and Chairperson of Hope Community Support Services Organisation, supported by the Rotary Club of Halifax, donated football kits and other essential commodities, including clothing, stationery, sanitary pads to schools, children's homes and the wider community of Binga.

Having been humbled by the positive impact of the first donation and having been inundated with requests & pleas for more donations, the Rotary Club of Halifax together with UK organisations, including Taking Football to Africa and Beyond; Sarahs Own Goal and Scissett Football Club and private individuals have donated a huge consignment of football kits, clothing, stationery, teddies, and other very useful items. These donations filled up a 20ft container!

We would like to appeal to football loving communities, friends and well-wishers to come together again to assist all of these generous donors to get the container to the area of its needs.

Binga is one of the most deprived areas in Zimbabwe. The contents will help alleviate widespread poverty and distress which are prevalent in the region. The football kits will go a long way towards creating a platform for the scores of unemployed youths to engage in activities which distract them from engaging in anti-social behaviours while they are supported to develop careers in the football industry.

Emily has accepted the challenge to undertake a Skydive to help with raising the required funds for the shipment of the container to Zimbabwe, and the costs of clearing the goods through customs and transporting overland from Bulawayo to Binga.

Your donation will go a long way towards empowering the marginalised communities of Binga, towards restoring some hope and dignity to the youth, the women, the promotion of education and football in the region.
