Very Interesting Talks and Presentations

On 4th March, Stephen Hinde a retired police officer, spoke about his career in the police force and his involvement in solving the cases of 3 murders.

On 11th March Graham Jackson gave a detailed talk about the history of legal dress. He spoke about the variety of vibrant colours of the robes worn by the judiciary eg scarlet and gold, providing great contrast with black robes. Additionally the richness of the fabrics eg silks, taffeta and white fur plus an explanation about the different types of wigs worn. The result of being confronted by such impressive attire can be very intimidating to the criminal in the dock!

On a  25th March David Hood, an Ambassador of Aquabox, talked about how extremely important they are in disaster areas. They contain not only the vital water purification filter technology to provide safe and clean drinking water instantly and reliably for a family of 4 but also other essential and useful items.

On 1st April club members watched a documentary about Dame Esther Rantszen the famous
TV personality who started Childline  which helped over 4 million children suffering from neglect and abuse.  She later set up Silverline to help older people suffering from loneliness. She likes an argument and having a laugh, she likes to fight for a good cause and will stand up for those who are not able to stand up for themselves. She admitted to being a workaholic.
