Approx 5 mile ramble around Marcross and St Donats Castle and College

Rotary Bridgend Rambles finally restart at long last as restrictions ease and the weather improves. Eight ramblers set off on a circular route from the Horseshoe Inn, Marcross.

A five mile walk taking in lovely scenery and historical buildings.

First stop, the 12th century Holy Trinity Church in Marcross. Then off across the fields to a wooded valley and the secluded 14th century St Donat's Church, tucked away below the walls of St Donat's Castle and Atlantic College. What a splendid setting!

Circumnavigating the college and through the George V sports fields, we came out onto the coastal path which took us passed the rocky side of the college and on to Nash Point Light House, standing in all its freshly painted white glory against the background of the Bristol Channel and Somerset hills.

Back at the Horseshoe Inn and an enjoyable draft ale and excellent meal finished the days outing.
