Guest speaker Nicola Field, Manager, Bridgend LifeSavers Credit Union

Nicola spoke on the work of the Credit Unions, which are not-for-profit organizations set up to allow people to save and take out affordable loans. These vary in size, from £200 - £10,000.

The Credit Union has grown over the last 20 years, which is now lending out over £1million a year and with savings over £2.5million. Nicola also spoke about the work carried out in local schools encouraging pupils to save and plan for the future. The credit union also works with Park Prison to allow prisoners to save money for their families and for their release.

Nicola was an enthusiastic speaker and was well received by members who had many questions to ask following her talk.
