Nine Rotarians and Friends of Rotary in Godalming carried out a litter pick recently to remove rubbish from an area of woodland in north Godalming. This area has been blighted by the indiscriminate dropping of drinks containers, plastic wrappers and waste food items, as well as a number of larger plastic and metal items. In 90 minutes the group collected 44 kg of rubbish and identified other rubbish that requires the attention of the local council.
This litter pick was just one of the projects being implemented by the new group, Rotarians Supporting the Environment in Godalming and it forms the first stage of a project to rejuvenate this potentially beautiful area of woodland. Anyone interested in helping in future litter picks or finding out more about our environmental projects should contact us at rseinfo@btinternet.com
