TWO ROTARY STARS AWARDED

to pupils at Broadmead School

The Rotary Club of Croydon is proud to be supporting this Rotary Stars Award scheme which we launched at Broadmead School in September 2020. It is open and suitable for all children irrespective of age, talent, or academic ability. It is all down to personal achievement with no competitive element.

Our first Rotary Star was Nathan (pictured with this year’s winners, Emmanuel and Joel) who was presented with his award in December 2020 for collecting tins of food, by his own individual efforts, for the school food bank and to support families during the pandemic.

This year’s winners were presented with their Awards at the end of term assembly on 22 July 2021. Sarah Hunter, Head Teacher at Broadmead Primary School, presented Rotary Star Awards to two boys who make a real difference to their community.

Sarah wrote:

Emmanuel received his award for being an all-round great citizen, despite very challenging times, both globally and at home. Emmanuel is a phenomenal support to his family, very much playing the father figure role supporting his disabled brother and his mother and brother.

"Joel moved to the UK from Ghana fairly recently and is so grateful for all that he has. He would do anything to help anyone and is a perfect role model of gratitude. He is also a great support to his younger brother and sister.”

She went on to say:

We are hugely proud of all three young men and delighted that the Rotary Stars Award scheme can recognise their contribution to the community.”

Croydon Rotary Club President for 2020/2021, Patricia Painting said:

“We are also very proud of these three young citizens of Croydon who have demonstrated their willingness and determination to help others. We look forward to seeing the Stars of the future from Broadmead School and we are extending the Rotary Stars Award scheme into other local schools so that other children can be recognised for their achievements. Congratulations to Emmanuel, Joel and Nathan.”
