Lend With Care - Vivian

Esk Valley Rotary have made a loan to Vivian, who is 32 year old and married. She has 3 children ages 8, 11 and 13 years old. Her children has temporarily stopped school since the pandemic. She believes that her children were not learning anything through module classes. She is still in favor of face to face class. Since face to face has not resumed yet, she will allow her children to join the module classes when the school starts after the summer break. She feels her children might get left behind if they don't start their classes soonTo help her husband Ronil in dealing with their expenses, Vivian started a business selling pork meat.

Every Saturday, Vivian buys one fully grown pig from hog raisers in their village. She hires a butcher who prepares the pig and does everything that is needed. She then sells the pork meat in kilo proces to her neighbors, friends and people in and around their village. Some of them pay her in cash but some of her customers pay her the following week. She earns a weekly net profit of between 3,000 to 4,000 pesos (£43.19 to £57.58). Her weekly income definitely helpes her to provide the basic needs for her family. Through her income, she was able to build two pigpens and raise piglets in order to generate more income. Right now, she have six piglets and she needs more funds to cover the expenses of balanced feeds for her piglets that will be ready to be sold in three months time.

Vivian joined the MFI-Lamac seven months ago. She already repaid two loan cycles. Recently, she applied for a new loan to have to buy the correct feeds needed until it is time to sell the pigs in three months time. She is preparing the piglets to gain the required weight so she can sell them for a good price. She will repay the loan in six months time. Vivian hopes and prays for her business to keep growing so that she can earn more income in the future. Meanwhile Ronil (her husband) will continue earning an income by driving his own single motorcycle in the nearest city.
