Breakfast Meeting with speaker

Talk given by Alanna McGill-Tagg about a community based project to keep Margate's beaches clean called "Rise Up - Clean Up".

The 1st October 2021 marked the return to a regular breakfast meetings (now on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month). The meeting was chaired by Margaret Hawkins (Caroline Winzer being on holiday), who introduced the speaker Alanna McGill-Tagg. She spoke passionately on behalf of a campaign called 'Rise Up – Clean Up'. This is a community-driven movement aimed at generating 'zero waste', thus protecting Margate’s beaches and keeping our waters clean. Pictures illustrate some of the initiatives used, including impressive information boards at Margate Railway Station, volunteers gathering for one of the frequent litter picks. One of 12 litter picking stations along the seafront making available free rubbish bags for people to collect and bin litter.
