Our Club with the Certificate

Bulls Eye! We Meet All Our Targets

We frequently get thanked for all our efforts regarding charity, fund-raising and community support over many areas.  We have just achieved the prestigious Rotary Citation. It reads: Congratulations! Your club has earned the Rotary Citation, for 2020-21, the most significant award a Rotary club can achieve.

The story and the facts:  It came to us in a completely unexpectedly email from Rotary HQ in Evanston, USA.  It stated: “During a year that was challenging for many Rotarians around the world, your club demonstrated a commitment to achieve its goals, which ultimately helps strengthen Rotary and shape our future”.  The email linked to our Rotary Citation certificate which we are encouraged to “display proudly to celebrate our club’s achievement”.

To be eligible for the Rotary Citation, clubs need to begin the year as active clubs in good standing and achieve 13 major goals out of a potential 25.  Such goals include amongst many others:

  • Membership “How many total members does your club want by the end of the Rotary year?” – Target 21 Achieved
  • Rotary Foundation contributions “How much money will be contributed to The Rotary Foundation by our club and its members during the Rotary year?” Target $2100 Exceeded ($2212)

Polio Plus And Service

  • Polio Plus Fund contributions “How much money will be contributed to The Rotary Foundation PolioPlus Fund by our club and its members during the Rotary year?”  Target $500 Exceeded ($2678)
  • Service projects “How many service projects will our club complete during the Rotary year?”  Target 3 Exceeded (5)
  • Online presence “Does your club’s online presence accurately reflect its current activities?” Achieved

One Of Four

The Rotary Club of Billericay was one of only four clubs in our District to achieve this award, and we are delighted that another of these four clubs is our friends at the Rotary Club of Basildon.
