Southerndown

Eight Ramblers set of from the cliff top path at Southerndown, behind West Farm (now The Barn), observing on the way the now large blow hole and subsidence on of the cliff path.

Passing Dunraven Beach and through the Estate walled garden, we made our way to the cliff top with its fine views of Temple Bay. Descending the well worn rocky, narrow path on to the beach, we made our way to the furthest end of the bay.

There was only one exit, which was by ascending a pair of steep fixed ladders up to the cliff top and into Cwm Bach!  After succeeding our strenuous climb to the top, we took our return route along the coastal path and through lush green fields with views across the channel. We then arrived at the original and quite substantial entrance way to the Dunraven Estate, which was once gated but now only has the high towers remaining.

After retracing our footsteps to The Barn, we enjoyed an excellent meal & refreshment  at The Three Golden Cups, in Southerndown
