Rotary Supporting Ukraine (Updated 5 August 2022)

£37,000 raised to date for the International Rotary Fellowship of Healthcare Professionals and the Moshchun Village Recovery Project.

The Rotary Club of Guernsey have been supporting the appeals for Ukraine and to date over £37000 has been distributed predominantly to support the International Rotary Fellowship of Healthcare Professionals who are specifically provided much needed medical aid and support.

In addition after a generous donation funds have been transferred to provide one unit of accommodation within the Moschun Village Recovery Project.

Thanks to the generosity of the donors funds have been provided for the benefit of so many in need.

The International Rotary Fellowship of Healthcare Professionals

The International Rotary Fellowship of Healthcare Professionals has members who are working in Ukraine and its neighbouring countries to provide medical services to those affected by the crisis.  The main challenge is treating the many horrific war injuries, many of which have been suffered by children.

The situation is worsening day by day and the direct contact that the Fellowship has with those on the front line has given a picture which is far worse than what we learn from the media.  Hospitals are full to capacity, a lot of the medical infrastructure has been destroyed and many patients are at risk of being left without access to medicine or care.

With no overheads or consultant fees, every penny the Rotary Club of Guernsey can send to the International Rotary Fellowship of Healthcare Professionals goes to frontline Rotarians in the countries concerned to help their own people to bring medical help and support to those in need.

Moshchun Village

Moshchun village, northwest of Kyiv, saw heavy fighting in the early days of the Russian war with around 80% of the village destroyed.

Lives were lost, homes destroyed and hearts and minds broken. Many of the villagers want to go back home but have nothing to return to.

Ivano-Frankivsk and Kyiv-City Rotary Clubs, along with Ukraine Rotary District 2232 have partnered with the local UA Dream Fund to start rebuilding the village before the first snows arrive in October.
