The Walk Centre

An inspirational charity in Kenya

Occasionally we hear inspirational speakers who make us wish we could do more to help. Amy Marriot told us how in 2008 she went out to Kenya as a volunteer to help with a project named The Walk Centre. The aim of the Centre is to 'provide light and hope in the lives of children and adults living in the slum communities of Nakuru, Kenya'.

This project has now supported 380 children through the education system including 17 to College/University. The Charity has been hit by the outbreak of Covid, not least by a drop in funding. Unfortunately this has resulted in many children having to resort to criminal ways of making ends meet. Children deserve a better start in life and access to a decent education.

President Dave Watson welcomed Amy and communicated our admiration of her work.
