Robbie Burns Supper 25 January 2023

At last, we were able to celebrate The Scottish Baird on his special night, what with lockdowns and Covid pandemics behind us it was a real treat to gather together with fellow members.

The Downe Arms Wykeham, our usual venue for club nights did us proud, some 50 members and guests enjoyed a traditional Haggis supper and all the trimmings. Tables were laid out in a very formal way and each guest received a wee dram of whisky.

The Haggis was piped in by our guest piper, Rachel leading the way and our landlord following with the supper laid on a silver salver.

Next, George Macintyre in all his Scottish attire gave the blessing.

Following supper, Alan Campbell also dressed for the occasion, gave an interesting talk on the history of Robbie Burns and an address to the Ladies. Carmel Flynn responded with an address to the Laddies.

The vote of thanks was given by Roger.

Everyone enjoyed the evening and the traditional format.

See you next year. Slange Var!

- not our core business; but we have rattled buckets in aid of disasters; run tombolas at music events, organised car parking at shows, sold plants at (our own) community fair, run raffles, organised events such as Dragon Boats – & had fun!
