100th Year of Service

Sadly, the Rotary Club of Hastings commemorated 100 years of service at a time of national mourning for our Queen Elizabeth II. The evening started with a two minutes silence as a mark of respect for the past sovereign.

The Centenary Dinner was held on Saturday 17 September at Bannatynes Hotel & Spa Hastings. 51 guests attended, including, Cllr James Bacon’ Mayor of Hastings, Paul Frostick, Rotary District Governor and members of other local Rotary Clubs.

It was an international affair with Rotarian visitors from Rouen (France), Remargen-Sinzig (Germany) and Tema (Ghana).

Club member Past President, Brion Purdey, presented a short history of the Club.

Musical entertainment was provided by the Liane Carroll Trio.

Dr Meinolf Gertskamp Past President of the Rotary Club of Remagen-Sinzig in Germany presented Allan Russell President of Rotary Club of Hastings with local Riesling wine in recognition of the Centenary.

Our Club Council meets monthly to discuss the running of our club their discussions centre around finance and membership issues. The meeting is chaired by the club President.
