Three New Rotary Stars

awarded in July 2022

In July 2022, for the first time since the launch of the Rotary Stars Citizenship Award in 2020, President Patricia and President Elect Loraine were able to visit Broadmead School, in person, to present three Rotary Stars.

The three students had been recommended by Head Teacher Sarah Hunter and her team.

Rokaya had been supportive of new students across the school, who had little knowledge of English. She translated for them and helped them to settle in.

Luis works hard on his family allotment to try and build a more sustainable and self-sufficient future.

Wassim is always so generous to charity. Whenever the school holds a dress-up day, or fundraising days, he always donates significantly more than is asked from his own pocket money.

Each Star student received a certificate, a star badge, and a book.

Our visit coincided with the rehearsal of the school’s end of year show “Shakespeare Rocks”, so we were able to enjoy a couple of the songs.

The pupils were so delighted with their show costumes which had been bought with a donation from The Arts Society of Croydon Area (TASCA).
