ROTARY SUPPORTS
WORLD SCOUT REPRESENTATIVE

Thomas Gibbons was chosen to be the Scout representing Richmondshire at the 25th World Scout Jamboree in South Korea in August 2023. He will be one of the 3,240 young people from the UK to join nearly 50,000 people from all over the World at the event.

To take up his place, Thomas was set a challenge to raise £4,000 and he was pleased to accept a cheque for £500 from Jos Huddleston, the President of Richmond Rotary Club, to complete his fundraising task.

Thomas is aged 14 years and a pupil at Risedale School. After eight months fundraising, he is really looking forward to his trip of a lifetime next year. He is a member of Castle Explorers Scout Troop and was the only Scout selected from the Richmondshire area.

Commenting on Thomas’s achievement, Jos Huddleston said: ‘Thomas has shown such commitment to raise funds and prepare for this life changing experience, and Richmond Rotary Club is delighted to support him.’
