Sensory Rooms for Special Needs Children

We are working in conjunction with other Rotary Clubs to raise funds to Equip Sensory Rooms in facilities in Newcastle upon Tyne and Consett

In conjunction with the Rotary Club of Consett and other Clubs in the District we raised funds for the charities"Kids Out" and "Learning for Life" to provide multi-sensory rooms for children with special needs in Consett and Newcastle upon Tyne. These help the childen with promoting touch, increasing concentration, reducing anxiety, developing fine motor skills and encouraging language development.

The centres which will benefit from the equipment are Learning for Life in Consett and the John Marley Centre in Newcastle and Disability North at the Dene Centre in South Gosforth

Together the participating Clubs raised a total of £6,000 towards the purchase of equipment which, together with a a further grant of £3,000 from Kids Out will make a huge difference to the lives of people attending these centres.

Thanks to all who helped us us to meet this target.
