Rotary Young Leaders

Two Ukrainian Refugee students were sponsored by the two Rotary Clubs of Epsom and Ewell to attend a development course at High Ashurst.

.On Wednesday 16th and Friday 18th August Epsom Rotary and the Rotary Club of Ewell, as sponsoring clubs, were invited to a collection and presentation on site in the North American Indian tee pees that are used for presentations.

Rotary Youth Leadership awards (RYLA) is a course developing leadership problem solving and communication skills.   The course was from Sun 13 August 2023  to Friday 18th. John Brewer of Rotary Club of Ewell and Maggie Rowell from Epsom Rotary attended.

The two clubs had asked Jo Shearing from Epsom Refugee Network to select two candidates  and she chose Angelina and Arman both from Ukraine. Both thoroughly enjoyed the course.

The course itself was organised by Surrey Outdoor Learning Development at their High Ashurst site.    Angelina, whose grandmother is a member of Rotary in Ukraine, was particularly excited and said that the course inspired here to be a member of Rotary.  Arman too expressed his enjoyment.  John and Maggie were really impressed with the organisation and skills of the Rotary Youth Leaders at High Ashurst and thanks go to Alan Wellman the district coordinator for 1145.
