September VETERANS CLUB

Hosted by the Army Reserve Centre - 135 Squadron who kindly allow us to use their Drill Hall, Epsom & Ewell Royal British Legion (RBL) and Epsom Rotary welcomed veterans both familiar and new to meet for a social gathering at the month Veterans Club. Besides the endless refreshments that were on offer with biscuits, there were a few guests throughout the session who added their valuable presence, to include Councillor Graham Jones offering the veterans assistance with IT issues which very much dominate our society. The turn out of volunteers was also good today who each in turn enjoy being part of the gathering and the veterans also welcome familiar faces and find time to talk to us.  I chatted to a guy who had a stoke some years ago and learning of his progress and exchanging my experiences working with dysphasia. 

Four Veterans are also to do the Gibraltar Banger Rally 2023 - check out their facebook site and web links - Gibraltar Rally - Merton Militia, all in aid of military charities and brought their featured hat for all to wear. One of the pictures shows Harry Corben wearing the hat with pride and this certainly brought a smile of many of the other veteran's faces. This is a very worthwhile cause and we wish them the best of luck on Sunday, 24 September the veterans set off  for an action packed rally through France and Spain to arrive in Gibraltar on 01 October 2023.
