Walk to eradicate Polio start and end at Lastingham

We have arranged an exciting walk on the 24th September to raise money to eradicate polio.

The walk route is given starts and ends at Hutton Le Hole. However as you all know our Pauline and Malcolm reside at Lastingham and it would be better if we start and finish at Lastingham.

It gives us an opportunity to visit St Mary's Church which dates back to the 7th Century.

For our route we would start at point 7 and finish at point 6. 

Please join us on the 24th and the walk will commence at 10 am. 

Please join us even if you don't participate in the walk. From midday - bring a bite and share a snack lunch with Pauline & Malcolm and enjoy visiting the crypts of St Mary's Church. 

We are very close to eradicating polio and unfortunately the Pandemic has pushed this effort back.

Currently two of the 3 strains of the polio virus is eradicated and only one remains.

There are only two countries now reporting this virus and the  whole of Africa has been declared free.

Afghanistan has only reported 1 in the last year ending September 2022 which is a remarkable achievement and Pakistan has reported 17 cases during the same period.

Finally in case you wondered why is it so important for us as a nation to see this virus eradicated as we have been free of Polio for a long time?
