November 2023 Newsletter #6

November is Rotary Foundation month

Club Update: Embracing 21st Century Rotary! Rotary in Cardigan Bay is redefining Rotary for the 21st century. We've embraced a project-focused approach, putting core Rotary values—Fellowship, Integrity, Diversity, Service, and Leadership—at the centre of our identity.

Dynamic Meetings: Breaking the Mold! Say goodbye to weekly meetings with meals! We've adopted a flexible schedule, meeting every 8 weeks for Rotary business and as needed for project planning and group discussions—online or face-to-face. Our October meeting was combined with a fish and chip supper at a member’s house… perfect! Our WhatsApp group keeps members connected, fostering idea sharing and mutual support.

Monthly Socials: Supporting Local, Building Connections! Join us for a monthly social meal at various venues across Cardigan Bay, supporting local businesses. It's a fantastic opportunity to build connections, enjoy good food, and share Rotary experiences in a relaxed setting. Your chance to be part of a community-driven initiative!

Recent Projects: Making a Real Impact! Discover the tangible outcomes of our recent projects. From raising funds for local charities to supporting global initiatives, each member contributes to making a real difference. Check out our latest endeavours and see how you can be a part of positive change.

Global Focus: Rotary Foundation at the Heart In November, Rotary in Cardigan Bay aligns its efforts with global service areas, emphasising the impact of the Rotary Foundation. With a legacy of over 100 years, the Foundation has invested $4 billion in sustainable projects worldwide, transforming your gifts into life-changing initiatives that resonate both locally and globally.

Rotary Values in Action: Advancing Peace and Understanding The Rotary Foundation enables our members to promote world understanding, goodwill, and peace. From improving health to providing quality education, enhancing the environment, and alleviating poverty, our commitment to Rotary values shines through in every service project.

End Polio Now: A 35-Year Journey Rotary in Cardigan Bay proudly contributes to the 35-year mission to eradicate polio. Our involvement in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative has reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent. Your support matters; with donations matched 2:1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, we're on the brink of ending polio for good.

Fundraising Triumphs in Cardigan Bay Despite our focus on project-based service, fundraising remains a crucial part of our mission. The recent evening at Cardigan Rugby Club, featuring Des Peranara's star performance, raised a remarkable £1100 through ticket sales and raffle. The Tesco Cardigan bucket collection in cold October weather added £342 to our funds, supporting local charities.

Primary School's Impact: Raising Funds, Changing Lives The Rotary in Cardigan Bay raffle during the Primary School's July concert raised over £450. Kudos to the school headteachers for allocating £200 to DASH and £300 to the Aberaeron Friendship Group. Your participation in these events directly contributes to positive change in our community.

Cardigan Winter Fair: Join Us on Friday, 10th November! Gear up for an exciting opportunity to connect with the community at the Cardigan Winter Fair! Our stand is more than just a space; it's a chance to showcase Rotary in Cardigan Bay, emphasising the value of volunteering. Plus, get ready for the best TOMBOLA experience in the area!
