2023 Balloon Race

Mon, Dec 18th 2023 at 12:00 pm- Sun, Dec 31st 2023 - 12:00 pm

A virtual Balloon race in aid of charities supported by Rotary and a bit of fun for club members.

Balloon Race

Billericay Balloon Challenge

This Christmas we held a Virtual Balloon Race for club members as bit of FUN over the Christmas and New Year period and to raise money for the charities we support.

So what, I hear you say, is a virtual balloon race?

A virtual race works in the same way as a helium balloon race, but the balloons fly around their own webpage sky. Once you have bought your balloons they are "held" until midday on the start date of the race, when they are released to fly away into the virtual atmosphere. Twice in every hour throughout the race each balloon travels between 1km and 20km. When the race finishes, at 12.00 noon on the finish date, the balloons that have travelled the furthest wins.

Enter our balloon race and see your balloon sail away.  Track it as it moves each day and see if you are winning.

This Balloon Race started on December 18 and finished on New Year's Eve.  The winners are:

  1. Keith Wood - 31,143 kms.
  2. Les Sheppard - 31,137 kms.
  3. Bob Godfrey - 31,135 kms.

only 6 kilometres between 1st and 2nd. and 2 kilometres. between 2nd and 3rd.

We had fun tracking our balloons while having the satisfaction of donating to great causes.

Balloons cost only £5 each

First prize is a bottle of Champagne

2nd prize a bottle of Sparkling wine and

3rd prize a bottle of wine.

 Good Luck!
