This week we heard about the work of disaster relief charity, Shelterbox.
Kerr Fulton-Peebles, from Alford, and district coordinator for ShelterBox, spoke about the partnership between Rotary and the charity which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Kerr said that in the last quarter century ShelterBox has helped over 3 million people in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the Caribbean affected in various disasters ranging from wars and earthquakes to hurricanes and tsunamis.
The charity provides tents and shelter tarpaulins, blankets, water purifiers and containers, cooking stoves and utensils and scores of other items needed to support people left with nothing when disaster strikes.
Its annual income was around £21 million with 40% of that coming from Rotary clubs worldwide.
President Gordon Moir introduced Kerr and Grace Morris proposed thanks for a most interesting and informative talk.
