2024-25 Pinner Rotary Club Activities
February
4th: Speaker Meeting - Dr Chaand Nagpaul and Amandip Sidhu Doctors in Distress. A very moving talk about this charity which was started following the suicide of Amandip's brother.
January
1st: New Year's Day Parade. Several of our Pinner Rotary members braved the weather to join the Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland float in the London New Year’s Day parade.
7th: Fellowship Meeting hosted by our Corporate member Yako Restaurant.
21st: Burns Supper
28th: Social Evening - visit to The Steak House, Hatch End
December
3rd: Speaker Meeting - Policing Lead for Harrow, Superintendent Zubin Writer. An excellent speaker who gave us many insights into his previous roles and his plans for policing in Harrow.
7th: Christmas Collection at Morrisons supermarket. Torrential wind and rain made life difficult for both collectors and shoppers.
11th - 20th: Santa's Sleigh
17th: Christmas Party with our speaker Rev Manoj Raithatha, Pinner Baptist Church.
November
5th: Speaker Meeting - Pallvee Shah gave a talk about her charity Help Change Lives. This is one of our President's two charities for the remainder of his 2024/25 term.
10th: Pinner Act of Remembrance. Our Treasurer, Michael Morris, laid a wreath on behalf of Pinner Rotary.
19th: Speaker Meeting - Colin Richards "Denham Film Studios". We also inducted Sean Hayes as a new member and Lara De Zoysa Bruno as a Corporate member representing Yako restaurant in Pinner.
October
1st: Speaker Meeting - Roger Browne "The Golden Age of Radio".
15th: Speaker Meeting - Ted McManus "The Battle of Britain".
18th - 20th: London and South-East District Conference, Eastbourne.
22nd: Social Evening - visit to K5 Lounge Indian restaurant.
29th: Speaker Meeting at Northwood Piazza restaurant - Rtn Steve Pink gave his personal talk about his life and career.
September
3rd: Speaker Meeting - Rtn Andrew Worley gave a talk about ShelterBox.
7th: Pinner Rotary Village Show - our flagship community event and fundraiser.
12th: Harrow Heroes: Pinner Rotary Secretary Cathy Kim won the Harrow Hero award in the 'Bringing People Together' category for her involvement in Pinner Rotary community events.
19th: NW London Rotary Clubs Social Evening. Hosted by Harrow Rotary Club.
24th: Social Evening - visit to Yako restaurant.
27th - 29th: Link Visit to Düsseldorf.
August
6th: Speaker Meeting - Melinda gave feedback from the RI Convention in Singapore.
10th: Summer Garden Party. 39 members and guests gathered in John & Melinda's garden, bringing food from around the world for an enjoyable feast.
20th: Speaker Meeting - Tamu Thomas gave a lively talk on the subject "Women Who Work Too Much", the title of her debut book. We also inducted a new member, Abhineet Kesarwani.
July
2nd: President's Dinner - start of the new Rotary year.
16th: Speaker Meeting - Rtn Mike Hodge gave a talk on The Rotary Foundation, Rotary International's own charity.
23rd: Social Evening - a guided walk round the City of London looking at architecture and hidden gardens. Led by Blue Badge Guide, Sue King, and followed by a meal at The Counting House pub.
30th: Social Evening - wine tasting led by Tony, held in Cathy's garden.
