16 year old Grace Hillis, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Wellingborough is celebrating after reaching and participating in the Rotary Young Musician Competition national final 2025.
Talented singer Grace impressed the judges and audience alike in the vocalist category of the competition’s national final, which took place at New City College, London, in March.
Grace was one of 12 young musicians from across the UK and Ireland to compete in the national final, having overcome three previous qualifying rounds, including district and regional finals.
The competition is split into vocalist and instrumentalist categories, showcasing a wide range of genres and performance styles, from classical to musical theatre.
In the competition, Grace performed three songs, including ‘Sleep’ by Ivor Gurney and ‘Love’s Philosophy’ by Roger Quilter.
The competition judges, conductor and composer Scott Stroman and opera singer Grace O’Malley were blown away by the standard and presence of the 12 young musicians.
For more than 15 years, the Rotary Young Musician competition has been shining a spotlight on some of Great Britain and Ireland’s brightest musical talent. Open to young people aged 11-17, each year the competition garners hundreds of entrants, nominated by Rotary Clubs across the two countries.
