The competition aims to encourage young people to be creative, develop skills in using traditional, contemporary or digital media, demonstrate interpretation of the topic, and express personal ideas through a selected medium.
This year's subject for Young Artist was "Wonderful Water"..
There are three age groups, Junior (7 – 10), Intermediate (11-13) & Senior (14 – 17).
Prizes of £150 for the winner of each of the three age groups at the National Final are kindly supplied by artist Lucy Pittaway and the Fine Art Trade Guild. The winners also had the opportunity to have a one-hour online meeting with Lucy, and fellow member of the Fine Art Group of the Guild and artist, Caroline Evans.
We are delighted to announce that Matilda Dudley, aged 14, from Catmose College and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Melton Belvoir was placed third in the Senior section!
Congratulations Matilda !!!
Matilda's description of her work is:- "Water can come in many forms and states. My artwork shows how a face can be distorted when behind a sheet of ice. you can see this by the bubbles trapped within the ice and the ripples that have been frozen into the ice."
