Rotary clubs appoint an Environment Lead to ensure a proper focus is given to Protecting The Environment; someone to develop a club policy on Environmental Sustainability and develop environmental goals for their clubs.

Club Environment Plans For 2022-2023

  • Inviting club members to form an Environment Team
  • Reviewing club activities to ensure compliance with the principles of environmental sustainability
  • Incorporate an Environmental impact assessment when planning every club activity
  • Invite and share speakers to discuss Environmental Sustainability
  • Promote community awareness and importance of environmental sustainability
  • Initiate one or more projects to enhance the environment
  • Engage the local community to project Rotary's commitment to environmental sustainability
  • Work closely with local council and link into council run environment events
  • Working with High Street traders in eliminating single use plastics

Specific environmental activities planned include:

Wild flowers gardens

  • Be part of a green recovery with free trees from the Woodland Trust

  • Recycling projects - crisp packets, printer ink cartridges, laptop computers etc.

  • Litter collections - rivers, beach, parks - Great British Beach Clean (16th-25th Sept 2022)
  • Creating wild flower gardens for the pollinators
  • Developing an Environment webpage on club websites
  • Using social media to advocate biodiversity and environmental sustainability
  • Issuing a monthly Environment Newsletter
  • Supplying schools with Environmental resources
  • Building ponds to increase animal and plant diversity
