The Stamford Club organised the games for 2018, 2019, and the aborted (Covid) 2020. The Lincoln group had to abandon this year's, also due to Covid.
The Games were inherited from the old District 1270, with the 9 clubs who moved into D1070 in 2016. PDG Simon Kalson has been involved since 2002, and he has been to more than a dozen national games in Coventry (now abolished), sometimes as a Table Tennis umpire.
The hope is that (like in 1270), we end up with at least 5 areas of the district who organise it for 2 years at a time, so it only comes round to a group every 10 years. In that way it will become more widely known around the whole district and might attract more competitors.
The last games in1270 that Simon organised were in 2007 and 2008 in Cleethorpes had over 470 competitors, in a district larger in area than 1070, but much smaller in numbers of Rotarians.
