The Rotary Young Musician competition is held every year, beginning at Club level and progressing to District, Regional, and a National Final

There is a good following for the Young Musician Competition in District 1040 and we welcome new additions from Clubs not already involved.

The competition provides an excellent opportunity for Young Musicians to participate in a valuable experience to perform as a soloist in either the instrumental or vocal sections.

The competition is open to all competitors who are 17 or under on 31st of August 2017.

When required, a piano will be provided for an accompanist.

In each competition the competitors are given constructive criticism and assessment of their performances by experienced adjudicators.

Performers can play from memory or from music at any stage.

Notable dates for this year’s competition are Sunday, 25th of February 2018 when the District Final will be held at the National Centre for Early Music at St Margarets Church, Percy's Lane, York YO1 9TL which will be followed by a Regional Final on Saturday 14th of April in Doncaster at a venue yet to be finalised.  The National Final will be held on Saturday 19th of May in the James Watt Theatre, Herriot Watt University, Riccarton, Edinburgh.

All enquiries for the District 1040 competitions should be addressed to the Youth Service Project Officer, Simon Lindley at or to the Chairman of the Service Project team, Andrew Wilson at
