Environment Gold awards
Ann Denham, District Environment Officer, presented several clubs with Gold Awards for their efforts to improve the environment in 2014-15
The first picture is of a member the Rotary Club of Knaresborough.At Knaresborough they have carried our several environmental schemes including recycling, tree planting, litter picking, organising a garden competition, setting the greenpower challenge and supporting Knaresborough in Bloom
The second picture is of John Logan of Bradford West, with a colleague. They organised and supported Robin Naylor who canoed from Malham down to the Humber Bridge in Hull. The sponsorship of this event raised money for Aqaboxes and the profile of Rotary.
The third picture is of Ann with a Rotarian from Harrogate Rotary Club,who donated 34 trees to schools in Harrogate and the surrounding villages with each tree being dedicated to a regiment who fought in World War One 100 years ago. On 11th November 2014 three of the trees were planted by the Bishop for the area of Ripon, James Bell, the Lord Lieutenant for North Yorkshire, Barry Dood CBE and the Deputy Chairman of NYCC, CClr David Jeffels.
